Vivian Duffy has served as a school trustee in the past, but she found out last night that her return to the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board involves a ton of reading.

We caught up with her at last night's inaugural meeting, perusing one of several weighty items from her required reading list, titled Catholic Education and Politics in Ontario.

The book was authored by Robert T. Dixon, adjunct professor of theology at the University of Toronto's St. Augustine's Seminary.

Dixon, interestingly, used to teach in the Sault at St. Francis Elementary School and St. Mary's College.

If you're trying to remember where you've seen Vivian, her day job is serving as one of Sault MP Carmen Provenzano's three constituency assistants.

New chair elected

Michipicoten trustee Gerald Beerkens drew more votes than Sault Ste. Marie's John Caputo and was elected board chair last night, replacing Regis O'Connor, who didn't seek re-election.

Elected vice chair was Sault trustee Laurie Aceti.
