Velorution is moving to a vacant Old Apostolic Lutheran Church building at the corner of Fish Hatchery and Landslide Roads.
The bike and ski shop was granted an official plan amendment and rezoning for its new location at last week's City Council meeting.
"We think it will benefit the recreation in that area," says Jan Roubal, Velorution co-owner.
The idea is to be closer to the cross-country skiing and mountain bike activity at Hiawatha Highlands, Roubal says.
FutureSSM is proposing to quadruple the size of the existing Hiawatha recreation centre at 780 Landslide Road.
"There won't be any changes to the property at this time," says Don McConnell, the city's director of planning and enterprise services, talking about Velorution's new home.
In other news, Andre Riopel, Velorution's original owner, got City Council's nod this past week to allow general commercial use of a residential lot next to the current Velorution site at 170 Old Garden River Rd.
Riopel intends to ask the city's committee of adjustment for permission to merge the two lots for undisclosed future commercial development.
Caswell Concrete got a go-ahead last week to build an 18-metre by 30-metre cold storage building with a dirt floor at its site at 1765 Great Northern Road.
Caswell will use the building to store concrete forms.
It will not be allowed to keep chemicals or petroleum products there.
