The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced that its terror alert level has been downgraded to yellow.
That's one level down from the orange alert issued over the holidays that has snarled traffic at southern Ontario border crossings.
CNN is quoting Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge as saying that "added vigilance and security" will remain in "certain locales and certain areas within the private sector," notwithstanding the lowered terror level.
