NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE

The City of Sault Ste. Marie Public Works and Engineering department provides the following reminders and information to residents:

As a result of the Remembrance Day statutory holiday, there was no refuse or recycling pickup on Monday, Nov. 12. Citizens are reminded that refuse and recycling is one day late for the remainder of the week.

Due to weather conditions, the 2018 leaf and yard waste collection schedule will end on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018. The final week for Route B pickup is cancelled.

Public Works and Engineering crews have been working 24 hours to remove snow from city streets. Crews focus on the main and collector roadways first followed by residential areas and designated sidewalks. Sidewalks should not be blocked at any time in order to facilitate snow removal.

During a snow event, teams could also be dealing with water-related issues. Residents are asked to drive according to the conditions and allow space for heavy equipment to clear roadways.

Under By-law 77-200-5(14), motorists are reminded that effective Nov. 1 parking of vehicles on city streets is not permitted during the winter months between midnight and 6 a.m.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks residents for their patience and cooperation in helping to keep our streets safe and clear. For more information, contact Public Works at 705.759.5201 or email [email protected].
