************************* SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT ISSUED FOR SAULT STE. MARIE - SUPERIOR EAST - ELLIOT LAKE - RANGER LAKE - MANITOULIN - NORTHSHORE - KILLARNEY - NORTH BAY - WEST NIPISSING - GREATER SUDBURY AND VICINITY - CITY OF THUNDER BAY - KENORA - NESTOR FALLS - DRYDEN - IGNACE - FORT FRANCES - RAINY LAKE - ATIKOKAN - UPSALA - QUETICO - SUPERIOR WEST.

WINTER STORM FROM TEXAS WILL BRING SNOW FOR CHRISTMAS.

A WINTER STORM HAS DEVELOPED OVER TEXAS AND WILL MOVE TOWARDS THE UPPER GREAT LAKES.

SNOW ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM WILL BEGIN IN THE LAKE OF THE WOODS AREA TONIGHT AND PROGRESS EASTWARD TO REACH THUNDER BAY BY CHRISTMAS MORNING.

SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE OVER THE AREAS ADJACENT TO THE UPPER GREAT LAKES DURING CHRISTMAS DAY AND AFFECT SUDBURY AND NORTH BAY TOWARDS EVENING.

10 TO 20 CENTIMETRES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED NEAR THE MANITOBA AND MINNESOTA BORDERS BY CHRISTMAS MORNING.

THE REMAINING NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO REGIONS CAN EXPECT BETWEEN 5 AND 10 CENTIMETRES OF SNOW BY CHRISTMAS MORNING.

THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO SATURDAY FOR AREAS FROM LAKE OF THE WOODS TO THUNDER BAY.

IN ADDITION, AREAS FROM SAULT ST MARIE TO SUDBURY AND NORTH BAY MAY SEE SOME FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN CHRISTMAS EVENING OR NIGHT.
