Highway 17 reopened following afternoon crash (update)

A collision closed traffic in both ways on Highway 17 around 4 p.m.

The latest update from 511Ontario's website shows Highway 17 open in both directions

9:07 update:

According to 511on.ca, Highway 17 has one lane open from Goulais to Wawa as of 9:07 p.m. this evening.

Several residents have told SooToday that traffic has also been moving towards the Sault.

Collision on Highway 17 westbound between SEC Highway 552 and Highway 101(E) - Wawa. Lane and west shoulder closed.
Highway 17 reduced to one lane from Goulais to Wawa due to a collision. 

Original story:

A collision on Highway 17 north near Havilland Shores Drive and Harmony Beach has closed all lanes of traffic.

According to 511on.ca, the accident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Photographs taken by Sault residents show long lines of cars backed up on the highway in both directions.

Injuries from the accident are unknown at this time.
