A pair of players with ties to Sault Ste. Marie have been added to Hockey Canada’s training camp roster as they prepare for the upcoming IIHF Uncer-18 World Championship, beginning April 17in Finland.
Soo Greyhounds forward Jared McCann has been added to the training camp roster following the Greyhounds playoff loss to the Erie Otters.
McCann had 27 goals and 62 points in 64 games this season, both career highs for the second-year OHL forward. In nine playoff games, McCann had two goals and seven points.
Also added to the training camp roster is Niagara IceDogs forward Brendan Perlini. Perlini’s IceDogs were knocked out of the OHL playoffs in the opening round by the North Bay Battalion in seven games.
Perlini had 34 goals and 71 points in 58 games for the IceDogs. In seven playoff games, Perlini had an assist.
Perlini had a goal and an assist in Canada’s first exhibition game, a 3-2 loss to Finland on Friday night.
