Two face charge of possession of stolen property

Officers arrested a man and a woman and have charged them with possession of stolen property. The pair also face other charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm

On Jan. 1, 2019 officers with the Break and Enter Unit and Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28-year-old Aaron Strachan of Pawating Place and 30-year-old Monique Lambert of Finn Road for possession of stolen property.

Just after 12:30 p.m. officers observed a vehicle that was being operated by Mr. Strachan along with Ms. Lambert in the passenger seat. The vehicle had been reported stolen in April of 2018 and the two were taken into custody. Officers then located a sawed off 12-gauge shotgun inside the vehicle and a small amount of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine in the possession of Mr. Strachan.

Both individuals have been charged with;

  • One count of possession of stolen property,
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • One count of possession of a firearm while knowing its possession is unauthorized,
  • One count of possession of an unauthorized firearm in a motor vehicle,

Mr. Strachan has also been charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of breach of recognizance.  They were both held for bail court.
