Trillium supports museum with $126,000 grant

The Sault Ste. Marie & 49th Field Regiment RCA Historical Society, operating the Sault Ste. Marie Museum at 690 Queen Street East, is pleased to announce their successful Capital Grant application with the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). 

With the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital Grant, the Sault Ste. Marie Museum will renovate 3,285 sq. ft. of community space, as well as invest in modular walls and professional exhibit cases, that will not only allow the Museum to better maintain and properly display our community’s heritage, but also accommodate more community groups throughout our community spaces. 

This funding will address the delivery of improved infrastructure with a $126,000 grant over 12 months to renovate and enhance the Sault Ste. Marie Museum’s community space for cultural and heritage programming. Enriching people’s lives through arts, culture and heritage, this initiative is helping to ensure that arts, culture and heritage have appropriate spaces, and has an impact on the lives of 8,000 annual patrons in the community. 

The Sault Ste. Marie & 49th Field Regiment RCA Historical Society exists to collect, preserve, study and exhibit artifacts and archival materials which illustrate the history of the people and the development of Sault Ste. Marie and immediate surrounding area. As well as to foster a better understanding of our local heritage and the ways in which local history relates to provincial and national history.
