Bruce Willson is running for the governing Progressive Conservatives in the October 2 provincial election.

You'd think he would have been the first to know about yesterday's election call.

Not so, Willson tells SooToday.com.

He spent the weekend in Southern Ontario, helping son Javon settle into the University of Toronto, and didn't arrive back in the Sault until 9 p.m. Monday night.

"I guess you could say I was in somewhat of a blackout," he says.

Willson learned about Premier Eves' announcement when someone at the Sault Ste. Marie Court House (he works as a lawyer) told him he heard it on the radio.

When SooToday.com caught up with Willson last evening (shown), he was working the phones to call together his campaign team.

His campaign headquarters was established last week at 428 Pim Street, the former home of Electronic Universe.

The phone number there is 945-7791.

Other candidates

Tony Martin, NDP David Orazietti, Liberal
