The first evening after Premier Eves dropped the writ for an October 2 provincial election, Sault MPP Tony Martin did duty as a soccer dad.

Martin, who's carrying the New Democratic Party banner into his third re-election bid, was attending a soccer banquet with his younger son Scott.

Back at his campaign office, staffers Sean Meades and Ray Lawson (shown) and others were scrambling to move back into the 16 Queen Street East location that for budget reasons had been vacated for the summer.

Phones were in place but little else after the two-month break.

The phone number there is 946-TONY (946-8669).

Other candidates:

David Orazietti - Liberal Bruce Willson, Progressive Conservative
