Tickets are still available for a dinner and silent auction to be held Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Grand Gardens North at 1324 Great Northern Road in support of the James K. Bennett Memorial Palliative Care Fund.
The event aims to raise funds to make palliative residents in nursing homes comfortable as they go through the end of life.

Cocktails are at 5 p.m., dinner is at 6 p.m.
James K. (Jim) Bennett passed away Oct. 17, 2015 at the F.J. Davey Home.
As reported earlier by SooToday, Bennett’s widow Georgina Bennett and his daughter, Shelley Raymond, launched the fund to raise money for the purchase of special, hospital-style palliative care mattresses for terminally ill nursing home residents.
Each such mattress costs $4,000.
