13th Annual Big Wish Lottery officially launched

The Group Health Centre (GHC) Trust Fund (TF) officially kicks off its 13th Annual Big Wish Lottery (Lic. 5221) today!

Proceeds from the Big Wish Lottery are going towards the cost of medical equipment for the new 1.2 million dollar Clinical Learning Centre at the Group Health Centre.

The new Clinical Learning Centre will give physicians and the medical students a state of the art medical teaching area.

Five doctors will occupy the space with their offices, a learners centre, a central nursing hub, reception station and a waiting room.

The Group Health Centre will provide the medical students from Sault Ste. Marie and area with a quality learning environment.

The additional exam rooms will allow the physicians and the medical students to practice in an environment that is conducive to a collaborative practice.

Patients benefit from the integrated care that is provided by health teams that include medical students.

GHC does not receive government funding for capital equipment purchases.

Fundraising efforts such as the Big Wish Lottery make it possible to purchase much needed medical equipment.

Big Wish Lottery tickets are $20 each and provide buyers with a chance to win $90,000 in cash prizes: one for the top prize of $70,000 as well as a draw for $10,000 and ten draws of $1,000.

Twelve thousand tickets have been printed and are available at major outlets, various locations throughout Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District and can be ordered by credit card by calling the GHC Trust Fund at 705-759-5530, weekdays.
