NEWS RELEASE STITCHES FROM THE HEART QUILT GUILD

************************** 175 members are putting the finishing touches on their quilts for the "Quilting Beyond Borders" quilt show taking place on Saturday, May 28th (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sunday, May 29th (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), at the Sault Curling Club, on Anita Boulevard.

Stitches from the Heart Quilt Guild is hosting the show, and it is their fifth show.

The show promises to be one of their best, with celebrity guests Cathy Miller "The Singing Quilter" and Doris Sanderson "International Fabric Artist".

If you are looking for quilting inspirations, or just simply enjoy beautiful works of art, look to the quilt show taking place the weekend after next.

Stitches from the Heart Quilt Guild has been in operation here in Sault Ste. Marie for over 12 years and is a local organization.

We currently have a membership of approximately 175, and we encourage growth in our membership by hosting workshops to assist our members in improving their skills and to promote the art of quilt making.

We also contribute to the community at large in various ways.

This has been accomplished by providing quilts for raffles for various local charities.

As well, we have provided quilts for our own local program called comfort quilts, and these quilts have been donated to families in need, or disabled children, or for cancer patients in our local hospital.

It is our goal to promote the art of quilt making as well as increase public appreciation for this particular art form.
