Friday

Meet Chris Glover

Chris Glover, the NDP Critic for Colleges and Universities, will be touring Algoma U from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to discuss recent funding changes and other challenges/opportunities at school. Interested students or community members can meet in the AUSU office at Algoma U (NW103).

WUSC Multi-Cultural Potluck

The annual celebration of diversity and culture on campus through food. Here is your chance to showcase your family favourite or specialty dishes to all your new friends and family here at algoma or to try something new. Entry is by donation. Everyone is welcome to bring a dish. The event takes place in the Speakeasy at Algoma U from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Bon Soo Opening Ceremonies

Doors opening at 5 p.m at the Machine Shop. Enjoy guest speakers, entertainers from The Soo's Got Talent, and a HoopYou Super Fire Show, followed by OLG's Firework Extravaganza. Following the fireworks, come inside and be entertained by The Jeff & Jeff Show.

Elvis Dinner and Show

Doors for the event, featuring Larry Ischekalin, open at 6:00 p.m. with dinner to follow. Pasta, meatballs, salad and coffee/tea are included in the $35 ticket. $5 from each ticket goes to a non-profit organization. Tickets are available through the Electra Marconi Society and at the Marconi Event Centre Office.

Saturday

I-500 Snowmobile Race

Hop across the river for the 52nd Annual International I-500 Snowmobile Race to experience all the thrills of NASCAR on a one-mile oval track. Green flag drops prompty at 10:00 a.m. For more information on tickets and camping, click here.

Bon Soo fun continues

Head on down to The Machine Shop on Saturday for more Bon Soo fun. Events include bum slides, a dog pull from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m., helicopter rides from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., snow canoe rides from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., and Sault Stryders free fun run at 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Bon Soo will also be at the Art Gallery from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. to make art with kiddos!

 Finish off the night inside the Machine Shop with a performance by Killer Hooks at 9:00 p.m. Tickets for this show are $25.

Sunday

Bon Tots at the Bushplane

Enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs and other snacks as well as craft tables, a magic show, and Mr. Bon Soo at The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Children three and under are free, children four and over and adults get in with a Bon Soo Button. Bring the whole family for crafts, games and facepainting.

More Bon Soo fun

Return to The Machine Shop for another day of Bon Soo fun! Events include bum slides, helicopter rides at 9:00 a.m. and snowmachine rides from 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Warm up inside from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. with the Bon Soo Family Dance. 

At 7:00 p.m., you'll have a chance to meet with Greyhounds!

Maker North Mixer/Indoor Winter Games

From 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., enjoy three different games at Maker North, including pass the antlers, snow man dress up relay, and mini marshmelow straw races for adults and children 9+. There will also be 3D printing and laser cutting demonstrations as well. For more information please call 705-450-6054.

Hot Cocoa at the library

Storytime and hot cocoa at the library from 2:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Maker North Shelf Building

Have you ever wanted to learn the basics to carpentry? Come and learn with Fred! He’ll teach you what you need to learn to make your own shelves at 3:00 p.m. join us! In this class you will learn how to safely use our tools and you will have a beautiful shelf to take home with you. Cost: $55 plus HST for members; $65 plus HST for non-members. Registration is available in person at Maker North or online.
