4th Annual Harvest Fest Event & Draw

The Ontario Finnish Resthome Foundation is a charitable, non-profit organization that is the official fundraising body for the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association (OFRA) and is holding its 4th Annual Harvest Fest Event & Draw on Friday, Sept. 6 at the Machine Shop. The proceeds raised from this year’s Harvest Fest Event will go towards our New Long-term Care Redevelopment Project - New Mauno Kaihla Koti.

Tickets for the Event are $50 each or 10 for $450. The Event will include a full five course meal, Penny raffles, 50/50 cash raffle, Silent and live auctions. Hosted by Tim Murphy, and the live auction by Vernon Bailey and OFRA's very own Vanha Vhyte!

Tarentorus Annual Beef BBQ Mixed Ball Tournament

Register your team for Tarentorus' Annual Beef BBQ Mixed Ball Tournament on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $450 per team and includes 12 tickets to the Beef BBQ dinner at Tarentorus. Cash prizes paid to the top teams in each division. The first 40 paid teams are guaranteed a spot. For any questions, please call Tarentorus Sports Club at 705-254-5731.

Digital Creator North Improv Workshop at Rainbow Klub

Come out Friday, Sept. 6 for a special Digital Creator North Improv event held at Koach Katrina's Rainbow Klub community centre. This event will take place from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with free snacks! Teens will get the chance to be creative, practise improv and theatre skills, and have fun! Emma Caicco will be hosting the event.

Family Karaoke

Singing to start at 7 p.m.. Under 19? Want to sing karaoke, but you're not old enough to go to the bar? The Sault Theatre Workshop invites you, and all family members to join us for our first of (hopefully) many family Karaoke nights. This is a family friendly event to allow everyone who would like to show off their skills, or just have some fun at the mic. Soft Drinks and popcorn available. Cost is $5 per person, or $20 per carload. Includes one free pop and one free popcorn per person. Donations welcome for all who want to sing.

The Soo's Got Talent - Auditions - Sept. 6 and 7

This is the second weekend of auditions for The Soo's Got Talent 2019, taking place at Wacky Wings on Great Northern Road on: Friday, Sept. 6 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 7 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. There is no registration fee but donations will be accepted and going to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH). Please come prepared with your props, acoustic musical equipment or background track to your performance. We'd like to encourage singers to sing acapella, but you don't have to.

Bruce Mines Fall Fair

From September 6 to September 8 head out to Bruce Mines for their fall fair. This family friendly fair weekend has a lot of activities: the demolition derby, tractor pull, displays, arts and crafts competitions, livestock competitions, baking competitions, flowers/fruit/vegetable competitions, plus live entertainment and dance with DJ. Admission is $5.00 per adult/day, children under 12 are free, weekend pass (Friday to Sunday) is $15.00 and the parking is free.

BRO 26th Annual TOY RUN

Come one, come all to BRO ssm 26th annual Toy Run this Saturday to benefit the Women in Crisis Center of Algoma! The ride starts at the East Huskey along the west side of their parking lot at 10 a.m. before heading out at 11 a.m. sharp! The ride will end at Great Lakes Honda where Honda and WIC volunteers will be hosting a BBQ for all attendees! Once at Honda, donations can be loaded into WIC volunteers's vehicles.

Birding Big Day

On Sept. 7, 2019 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a potluck to follow, join The Kensington Conservancy (TKC) for a Birding Big Day and help raise funds for bird conservation in the Desbarats area! The goal is to go out and record as many different bird species as you can throughout the day within the Central Algoma area. This will be a friendly competition in an effort to raise funds to help protect local birds. You do not have to be an expert birder to participate. You can do it either solo or as a team.

Algoma Stamp Club

Algoma Stamp Club will be on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 1 p.m. 4 p.m. at 1025 Second Line West (corner 2nd Line W & Allen's Side Rd) The meeting room is at main entrance and the door will be open. Great opportunity to buy, sell, trade. Share knowledge of the hobby, learn from others. Young, old, novices, veteran philatelists - all welcome. Taoist Tai Chi Demo

Interested in Tai Chi. On Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. check out the demonstration of Taoist Tai Chi at the Dennis Street court in Station Mall. Pick up information on new classes starting in September and...hey...try a few moves.

Highland Ford Presents Cops and Rodders 2019

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to Bellvue Park for a gathering of cars, trucks, jeeps and motorcycles on display in the beautiful setting. Proceeds from this event go to support Special Olympics.

The Country Way Annual Customer Appreciation BBQ

Come and join us Saturday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for our Customer Appreciation BBQ Party! Local and international vendors, kids activities, free samples and taste-testing, face painting, live music, gift basket giveaways, veggie burger BBQ lunch and tons of fun!

Ryde for ARCH

ARCH HOSPICE is hosting a 100k Ryde on St. Joseph Island Sept. 14! If you don't have a bike we have a solution for you! Join us indoors at RAM on Sept. 7 for our 100k RYDE! You can take this on on your own or as a duo! Two classes will be running (8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.). You can register for both to attempt to complete 100k! Or ryde with a partner and combine your distances to complete 100km! Individuals are also welcome! Just sign up for a single class if you like! Classes are by donation with all proceeds will go to ARCH HOSPICE!

Tenaris Family Day

Join Tenaris employees and our families, friends and neighbours for Tenaris Family Day! Admission is free and includes access to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, face painting, balloons, music, snacks and more!
