Saturday Art Making: Learn art techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media taught by local artists and art educators. Hosted at the Art Gallery of Algoma, 50 East Street, from 10 a.m. to noon for ages 6 to 12 years. Session runs from January 25 to March 8. Call 705-949-0967 for details.

Sault College traditional pow wow, Honouring Bear Clan, begins with the Grand Entry at 12:30 p.m. at the Sault College Health and Wellness Centre. Host drum is Bear Creek. Head dancers are Kristol Abel and Bnaaswi Biiaaswa. Traditional feast begins at 5 p.m. Second Grand Entry takes place at 6:30 p.m. For more information, please call 705-759-2554 ext.2452.

Ears and Eyes presents The Urban Snowshoe. Interested participants are encouraged to meet at 1 p.m. at 180 Projects gallery (180 Gore Street). The artistic adventure will travel downtown via snowshoes for coffee at Café Natüra, then over to the Art Gallery of Algoma, along the St. Mary's River via the Hubtrail, then loop back up to 180 to finnish the afternoon.

Saturday Art Club: Parents and children will work together to discover art in the studio and in the exhibition galleries. While exploring lots of art mediums, this class will provide opportunities for creative play and fun learning. Hosted at the Art Gallery of Algoma, 50 East Street, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for ages 3 to 5 years. Session runs from January 25 to March 8. Call 705-949-0967 for details.

Sault Roller Derby is hosting a flat-track scrimmage with skaters from Northeastern Ontario and Michigan at the Garden River Recreation Centre, 48 Syrette Lake Road, starting at 6 p.m. Admission is by donation.

A Soldier's Heart, a play about an under-ager wanting to join WWI efforts, will be staged at the Workshop Theatre, 121 Pittsburgh Ave., at 8 p.m. Proceeds go to support the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25. Tickets: adults $20, seniors $18, and students $7.

Touch of Class returns to Dondee Lanes in sault Michigan to play from 8 p.m. until midnight.

Changing Lanes plays the Water Tower Pub, 360 Great Northern Rd., starting at 9 p.m.

Frank Deresti and the Lake Effect celebrate the band's second CD release at Loplops, 651 Queen St. East. Music begins at 10 p.m.

Thin Ice plays the Roosevelt Hotel, 306 Korah Rd., from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Lucky 13 performs at the Rockstar Bar, 864 Queen St. East. Show time is 10:30 p.m.

Techniques for Teens at the Art Gallery of Algoma: Learn art techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media taught by local artists and art educators who bring their talent and experience to each class. Class runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and is for ages 12 and older. This session runs from January 12 to February 16. Cost: $70 AGA Family Members, $80 Non-members. The Algoma International Film Association will screen Wadjda (Saudi Arabia/Germany) At Galaxy Cinemas in the Station Mall at 7 p.m. Tickets for members are $6 each, for non-members $10 each. Tickets may be purchased from the ticket sellers who set up in front of the Bulk Barn next to the Galaxy Cinema.
