Here are the 2 p.m. bridge-crossing statistics, as released to SooToday.com by the staff at the International Bridge.

Since 6 a.m. this morning, 2,456 vehicles have crossed.

That brings the total crossings in the bridge's 41-year history to 74,992,211.

And that's 7,789 short of 75 million crossings.

The average number of vehicles that cross the bridge every day is 4,394.

Unless everyone reading this article gets into their cars and immediately drives to Sault, Michigan, chances are the 75 million mark will be reached sometime on Monday.

We're telling you all this because some of you are jumping up and down with excitement because vehicle number 75,000,000 is going to drive off with a prize package worth more than $500, including getaway packages from Algoma's Water Tower Inn and Kewadin Casino, as well as 75 free round-trip crossings.

If all this is giving you a headache, you're free to wail, whimper and whine using the News Response feature on our Editorial page.

Go ahead, if it'll make you feel better. Of course, we'll completely ignore your gripings. Or maybe we'll save them for a good laugh at the office Christmas party!
