The latest on those Thunderbirds goalie pads

As you may already have read, the Soo Thunderbirds briefly had two sets of goalie pads stolen from their team bus while in Kirkland Lake over the weekend. 

Fortunately, the pads were returned before Sunday's game against French River, in which goalie William Anderson made 49 saves, including 39 over the final two periods, helping the Thunderbirds to a 4-2 win over the Rapids.

Police are still looking for the perpetrator, and the following is a news release issued this morning by the Ontario Provincial Police:

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Saturday Jan. 12, 2019 members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a theft of hockey equipment from a team bus while it was parked at a hotel in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. 

The stolen goalie pads have since been recovered and returned to the team. 

Police are still investigating the theft and are asking any person with information regarding this crime to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
