SooToday received the following announcement from the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre regarding Bruce Noble, lawyer and former Justice of the Ontario Superior Court, Queen’s Counsel appointee, chairman of Legal Aid Ontario, and president of the Algoma District Law Association.

Passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 86 years.

Son of the late William and late Elizabeth Noble. Brother of the late Janet.

Much loved husband of the late Ruth.

Loving father of the late David, Anne Griffiths (John), and Andrew.

Cherished Grandfather of Jennifer Hoover (David), Michael and Matthew Griffiths.

Devoted Great Grandfather of Annalee Hoover.

Served for 13 years as a Justice of the Ontario Superior Court.

During his years as a practicing lawyer, Bruce was appointed Queen’s Counsel, was elected a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and served as Chairman of Legal Aid Ontario and President of the Algoma District Law Association.

Devoted to his community, he served on numerous boards including Sault Area Hospital and Foundation, Chamber of Commerce, Algoma University, and was one of the founders of Women In Crisis Algoma.

A proud member of the 49th (Sault Ste. Marie) Field Regiment, RCA, and the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie.

Of his many accomplishments, his family was his greatest joy.

He will be remembered for his love of gardening, golf, close friendships and his time spent at the cottage and Florida home.

Love has joined us and death will not separate us.

Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.

Funeral service to be held from St. Andrew’s United Church on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 12 p.m.

Rev. Phil Miller officiating.

Memorial Contributions to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation, Matthew’s Memorial Hospital Foundation, Women In Crisis Algoma or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
