The green team in jeans extends an invitation

The 7th Annual Civic Centre Greens Days event is taking place Thursday, June 12, 2014.

The Green Team is comprised of 12 City of Sault Ste. Marie summer students, assisted by Ward 1 Councillor Steve Butland and Environmental Initiatives Coordinator Madison Zuppa.

This year’s projects include a special garden planted on the Civic Centre grounds and a new water fountain that works to reduce the number of plastic water bottles.

The garden dedication ceremony will take place Thursday, June 12 at 10 a.m. in the north east corner of the Civic Centre, followed by the unveiling of the new water fountain in the Civic Centre lobby.

The Green Days initiative coincides with a City Jean Day event.

For a $5 donation, participants can enjoy a coffee break with proceeds going to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.

Employees participating in Green Days have the opportunity to take part in different activities for “green” prizes.

Special thanks to Walmart and St. Joseph Coffee Roasters for their generous donations.
