Former mayor Joe Fratesi leads the list of City of Sault Ste. Marie employees who earned salary and taxable benefits in excess of $100,000 last year.

Fratesi (shown), now the city's chief administrative officer, earned $123,980 in salary, plus $5,165 in taxable benefits, according to figures released under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act.

The CAO was one of five members of the City's $100,000 club in 2001.

Here are the others:

- Police Chief Robert Davies - $122,613 in salary and $4,139 in taxable benefits.

- Community Services Commissioner Walter Lamming (now retired) - $116,668 in salary plus $1,081 in benefits.

- Deputy Police Chief Robert Kates - $108,945 in salary and $4,758 in benefits.

- Public Works Commissioner Reg Avery - $101,838 in salary plus $3,922 in benefits.

Ontario's Public Sector Disclosure Act requires institutions that receive public money to disclose each year the names, postions, salaries and taxable benefits received by all employees who earn more than $100,000 a year.
