Jorge Mitre is on the move again.

Mitre, Tenaris Algoma Tubes senior operations director, announced Wednesday he will be moving to Houston to take on a new position as Quality Senior Director for Tenaris’s U.S. operations, according to the Tenaris Algoma Tubes Facebook page.

“Jorge has been a vital part of our Canadian operations, Sault Ste. Marie family and local community throughout his career. We thank him for his contributions to Tenaris Algoma Tubes, and wish him all the best in his next adventure,” read a statement posted to the page.

Mitre was the original manager of the mill when Tenaris turned out its first locally-produced pipes in 2000.

Mitre climbed up the corporate ladder, moving away from the Sault, but it was announced in 2016 he would be returning to Tenaris Algoma Tubes as operations manager.

“He’s a very intelligent and aggressive mill manager, and we’re really optimistic with his leadership,” said Cody Alexander, United Steelworkers Local 9548 president, speaking to SooToday in Sept. 2016.
