The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board says a teacher who was arrested Friday and charged with fraud is currently suspended from her job.

A news release issued today says a 49-year-old woman is accused of defrauding an organization she assisted with fundraising. The crime is alleged to have taken place between Sept., 2017 and June, 2018 and involved approximately $6,000, say police.

H-SCDSB said that it has cooperated with police in the investigation that led to the charges.

Police have declined to name the organization defrauded.

Debbie Romano, 49, of Queen Street East, was charged with fraud over $5,000. She is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28.
