City firefighters were called twice early this morning to a multi-unit apartment building at 517 Albert Street East.

The fires are considered suspicious and are being checked out by criminal investigators from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The first call came around 1 a.m. today when firefighters found a burning mattress on the front porch.

After quickly taking down that fire they were called back to the same building at 3:15 a.n. to fight a fire inside the front door.

There were no injuries.

Only minor property damage was caused.

The photos associated with this story were taken by Scott Grasley, a co-op student from Sir James Dunn Collegiate and Vocational School currently on placement at SooToday.com
