This is the day the Supreme Court of Canada will release its decision on the case of Steve Powley, the Sault Ste. Marie Métis charged with hunting moose without a licence.

The landmark case will determine whether 300,000 Métis people across Canada have the same constitutional rights as other aboriginal peoples.

Métis are people of mixed non-aboriginal and aboriginal ancestry.

Three lower courts have determined that Powley had constitutionally protected right to hunt.

SooToday.com will provide coverage of today's decision.
