Over the past five years, more than 50 businesses in the Algoma region were started through a young entrepreneur program.

Funded by the province, the Summer Company program is administered locally by the City's of Sault Ste. Marie's Economic Development division.

The program is now looking for young people who are considering starting a business in the summer of 2023.

Do you have a creative business idea? Are you a student who will be returning to school in September?

Summer Company provides training, mentoring and funding to help high school and post-secondary students start a seasonal business, the city said in a news release.

The program is open to students age 15 to 29 who are returning to school in the fall. Approved participants are provided a grant of up to $3,000 to start and operate a summer business.

Full program eligibility and guidelines can be found on the Government of Ontario’s website. Application deadline is May 15.

For more information and to apply for the program, visit the Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship website or contact Jessica Maione at [email protected].
