Strong winds expected into Monday

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning ahead of potential strong winds in the area beginning tonight.

The wind warning is in effect for the Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island area as well as Manitoulin Island.

Northwest winds gusting up to 90 km/h are expected to develop late this evening near and along the shorelines of Whitefish Bay and northern Lake Huron.

Though the winds are expected to diminsh a bit overnight, they're expected to strengthen again on Monday morning with gusts up to 80km/h possible into Monday afternoon before diminishing again Monday evening.

With the high winds, power outages are possible.

A special weather statement is also in effect for areas including Blind River - Thessalon and Espanola - Killarney, advising of potentially strong winds as well.

Northwest winds developing along the shorelines of Lake Huron, northern Georgian Bay, and eastern Lake Superior with the potential for gusts up to 80 km/h.
