Fifteen months after City Council expressed a strong desire for a plastics-free community, City Council will be asked Monday to authorize an update on how we're doing with plastic bags.

Ward 5 Coun. Corey Gardi and his Ward 3 counterpart Donna Hilsinger will ask city staffers to report on progress and results to date.

Councillors took their initial stand against plastic on June 8 of last year.

In April, 2021 they passed a resolution providing "full support to Clean North and city staff in the development, education and promotion of a plastic-free Sault Ste. Marie."

Monday's City Council meeting, including a vote on the Gardi/Hilsinger request. will be livestreamed on SooToday starting at 4:30 p.m.
