Stepson charged with murdering Haileybury man

OPP charge Haileybury man with murder

HAILEYBURY, ON, March 27 - Members of the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police detachment, under the direction of Detective Inspector Steve Rooke, Criminal Investigation Branch, have charged a Haileybury man with second-degree murder in connection with the death of another Haileybury man yesterday (Saturday, March 26, 2005). Emergency crews responded to a residence at 524 Ferguson Avenue, Apt. No. 2, at approximately 5:30 p.m. where they found Rodney Hamilton, 44, a tenant of the residence, deceased, following an altercation. A short time later, OPP investigators arrested and charged Jesse Jenkins, 20, also of 524 Ferguson Ave, with second degree murder.

The accused is the stepson of the deceased.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Haileybury on Tuesday, March 29, 2005.

A post mortem examination will be held to determine cause of death, however, no date has yet been set.
