The Fraser Institute's annual Report Card on Ontario's Elementary Schools was released Sunday and this year, St. Francis French Immersion has topped the local list.

The report by the right-wing think tank ranks more than 3,000 public and Catholic elementary school across Ontario, both anglophone and francophone.

As the top-ranking local school, St. Francis placed 307 out of 3064 schools across the province.

Catholic schools made up six of the top 10 local schools, and took the top three spots on the local list.

The rankings are based on nine academic indicators using results from annual provincial reading, writing and math tests

“The Report Card is a valuable tool for parents and educators, who can use it to find schools serving similar students elsewhere in the province that consistently perform better,"  said Peter Cowley, director of School Performance Studies at the Fraser Institute.

"By doing so, they can access success demonstrated by other similar schools so to improve their own school’s performance,” he added.

1. St. Francis French Immersion (307/3064)
