Soo Greyhounds forward Blake Speers has been named to the Ontario Hockey League’s all-rookie first team.
The Sault Ste. Marie native took the honour of being named first team right wing as the OHL announced the all-rookie teams earlier today along with the rookie of the year award.
Ottawa 67’s forward Travis Konecny, who was the first all-rookie team centre, was named the league’s rookie of the year.
Konecny finished ahead of London Knights forward Mitchell Marner and Barrie Colts forward Andrew Mangiapane.
The first all-rookie team includes:
- Centre – Travis Konecny, Ottawa
- Left Wing – Andrew Mangiapane, Barrie
- Right Wing – Blake Speers, Sault Ste. Marie
- Defence – Travis Dermott, Erie
- Defence – Mitchell Vande Sompel, Oshawa
- Goaltender – Mackenzie Blackwood, Barrie
The second team featured:
- Centre – Mitchell Marner, London
- Left Wing – Lawson Crouse, Kingston
- Right Wing – Nick Magyar, Kitchener
- Defence – Stefan LeBlanc, Mississauga
- Defence – Sean Day, Mississauga
- Goaltender – Matthew Mancina, Guelph
