Special Olympics flag outward bound from the Sault

On Wednesday, a Special Olympic Flag will leave from Sault Ste. Marie to travel around Ontario. It be on display from noon to 1 p.m. in the City Hall lobby where the public are invited to sign the flag. At 1 p.m. there will be a flag raising ceremony.

The flag is one of six flags that will travel across Ontario to raise awareness of the Special Olympics Championships this summer.

The movement of the flags throughout the province will be completed by mid-May in time for the 2016 Special Olympics Provincial School Championships in Durham Region (June 1 – 3). The six flags, along with salutation books will be on display during the Championships.

This event is sponsored and co-ordinated by the Knights of Columbus of Ontario. The next stop for the flag is Elliot Lake.
