For the second time in one month, SooToday.com has experienced a major data loss involving Hostway Corp., the Chicago-based company we retain to host our site and provide daily content back-ups.

All editorial responses and news stories posted since Sept. 24 have been lost.

Last month, a similar problem caused one month's worth of news articles to vanish into Hostway's equivalent of the place where your clothes dryer hides all your missing hosiery.

Maybe all those socks and stories end up in the same place?

The Ho-Zone?

We apologize to all of you who took the time to voice your opinions on SooToday.com.

We also apologize to those who've come here to read articles that are no longer available.

What we're doing about the problem

In view of these ongoing difficulties, SooToday.com is reviewing its relationship with Hostway, otherwise considered a world leader in reliable web hosting.

Our switch to Hostway earlier this year was prompted by dramatic increases in SooToday's traffic since we became a breaking-news site.

The company maintains a massive bank of computers, multiple OC-3s and GigE connections, and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) routings that provide levels of speed, reliability and security unavailable here in the Sault.
