Though Sears Sault Ste. Marie location will be closing in the near future, the suppliers of the Sears Garden Centre want their regular customers to know they are looking for a new retail location for the spring 2018 season.

“It came as a bit of a shock, and it is our intention to find another location in Sault Ste. Marie,” said Glenn Lawrence, owner/operator of Lawrence's Springwater Farms of Desbarats.

Springwater Farms offers a wide range of seeds and garden supplies.

The supplier has already left the Sears location at Station Mall.

“We’ve got a number of loyal customers and they’re telling us ‘let us know where you will be, because we like your plants.’”

“We’ll be around for 2018,” Lawrence said.

Customers can keep informed regarding news of Lawrence's Springwater Farms eventual new Sault location through their Facebook page, website or by email at [email protected]

Lawrence said he would typically travel to the Sears Garden Centre location with fresh plants from Desbarats every morning, six days a week, during spring planting season.

The company would aim to open at Sears Garden Centre before Mother’s Day every year and operate at that location for about seven weeks.

“We're very different from one of those other stores where they get a transport in and they have that for a week or two, then they get another transport in, ours is fresh plants every day,” Lawrence said.

“An era is over (at Sears) but we’ll be back.”
