Snowarama raises $22,700 for kids

Eighty-seven riders snowmobiled on behalf of Easter Seals kids this past Saturday as part of Snowarama. Locally, riders raised $22,700 in pledges to help children and youth with physical disabilities.

This year’s top fundraiser was Danielle Greve who brought in $2010 for Easter Seals.

The winners of the local prize draws were as follows:

• Arthur House won a compact ceramic heater and $150 gift certificate courtesy of Christie’s RV
• Dan Czop won a $200 gift certificate courtesy of Construction Equipment Co.
• Arthur House won a $200 gift card courtesy of Dynatype Motorsports
• Matt Dalessandro won a Snowmobile suit courtesy of Joe’s Sports and Surplus
• Harold Black won a race jacket and skidoo hat courtesy of Northshore Sports & Auto
• Allan Shields won a kid’s and a youth’s jacket courtesy of Premier Yamaha Powersports
• Mark McKay won a helmet courtesy of Rivercity Motorsports
• Cory Bugyra won a snowmobile tie-down system courtesy of Woody’s Wheels

This ride was made possible by the tireless efforts and long-time commitment of Sault Trailblazers Snowmobile Club who are responsible for grooming the 160km of Snowarama trail, and the hard-working volunteers from the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie.

The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie has been an active part of the community since 1918. Its primary charitable mandate is to offer support to children with physical disabilities.

This is done in close partnership with Easter Seals Ontario through fundraising projects such as the Take Your Pick Car Draw, Snowarama, TD Canada Trust Change for Change in the Lives of Easter Seals Kids, Easter Seals Telethon and Battle of the Sections.

The club also supports community-building events like ROTARYFEST, Rotary Youth Exchange, Bell Celebrity Skate and Swim Presented by Agero, Rotary Science Fair Algoma presented by Tenaris, and the Rotary Santa Claus Parade.

2017 marks Easter Seals Ontario’s 95th anniversary of serving children and youth with physical disabilities. Since 1922, with the help of our generous donors, Easter Seals has been offering programs and services that enable kids to experience freedom and independence and focus on what they can do rather than on their limitations.

Easter Seals helps by providing financial assistance for mobility equipment, communication devices and fully accessible summer camp opportunities at its two properties, Camp Merrywood and Camp Woodeden.
