NEWS RELEASE
FREEDOM SISTERS OF SAULT STE MARIE
**************************
The Freedom Sisters of Sault Ste Marie are excited to announce the beginning of our annual Shine The Light on Woman Abuse Campaign and contest!

In support of November: Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario, Freedom Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie has chosen to once again take part in the Shine The Light campaign, which works to raise awareness of men's violence against women by turning communities purple for the month of November.

The colour purple is a symbol of courage, survival and honour, and has come to symbolize the fight to end woman abuse. We wish to demonstrate that we stand in solidarity with abused women and support them in understanding that any shame and/or blame they may feel does not belong to them but to the perpetrators of their abuse.

We are asking our community to help us reach our goal and colour the town purple this month! Replace your porch bulbs, put out some purple string lights and show your community that you stand behind survivors of abuse and domestic violence.

After you've completed your purple decor, be sure to upload a photo of the transformation to the Freedom Sisters Facebook page for a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card!
