Sault MP Terry Sheehan today announced $2.6 million in FedNor funding for Sault-based Professional Aborginal Testing Organization Inc. (PLATO).

The indigenous software-testing firm is planning to create 1,000 positions in 20 communties across Canada as it works to take back work often given to offshore companies.

Early adopters of its approach include OLG and Algoma Steel Inc.

Sheehan made the announcement this afternoon at his annual Fireside Chat event with the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce.

This year's event took place at the Delta Sault Ste. Marie, which offered a special indigenous menu for the event.

PLATO's offices are a stone's throw away from the Delta, at Station Tower.
