Predicting another sold out show! One night only, May 15

Tickets are selling fast for the 2nd Annual The Soo Sings for Kids event.

Everyday employees are transformed into stage performers, featuring seven workplaces ready to sing and dance for children’s charities: The Algoma District School Board/ Grandview Elementary School team, “Benny and the Jets”; the Algoma Public Health team, “Encore”;  the Arthur’s Funeral Home team, “The Tributes”; the City of Sault Ste. Marie/Innovation Centre team, “Collective Voices”;  The Children’s Aid Society team, “Rock Society”; the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre Algoma team, “Team Ignite”; and the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board team, ”Harmonies for Hope”.

When: May 15, 2014 at 8 p.m.

Where: Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre

Tickets: $25 at the Community Box Office in Station Mall (no credit cards, cash and debit only)

The teams have started rehearsing with their voice and dance mentors.

The mentors volunteering to help their assigned workplaces include vocal mentors Donna Hillsinger, Kevin Collar, Sue Roy, Tracey Hilderley, Lesley Walsh-Tibben, Stephen Mallinger, Stephen Patterson, and dance mentors Jamie Miller, Justice Stephaney, Victoria Snider Stortini, Kaitlin Pelletier, Christina Tucci, Jennifer Avery Hutton, Skye Stewart, Sandra Dewar, Angela Gervasi, Tee Komsa, and Sara Hinding.

Every team singing for the kids in our community will win a cash prize for the charity of their choice, but the teams that finish first, second, and third will earn a higher purse.  

The charities represented this year are: The Sault Ste Marie Chapter of Autism Ontario; CAS Youth in Care Education Assistance Fund; Children’s Rehabilitation Centre; Algoma Public Health Infant Child Development Program; Sault Area Hospital Child Adolescent Psychiatry unit; Jump Start; and Easter Seals.

Timothy Murphy will be the host again this year, and Valerie Pluss and Greg Marshall will lead the stage crew.

The Soo Sings for Kids promises to be one of the most emotive and exciting events of the year!
