Seven new fires in the northeast region

None are currently under control

Seven new fires have been confirmed in the Northeast region this afternoon, Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services stated in a release issued today:

  • Peterborough 1 is 1.5 hectares and not under control at the time of this update. The fire is located west of Sharbot Lake Provincial Park.
  • North Bay 11 is 0.5 of a hectare and not under control at the time of this update. This fire is located within Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park.
  • Timmins 8 is 1 hectare and not under control at the time of this update. The fire is located west of Onaping Lake.
  • Kirkland Lake 6 is 30 hectares and not under control at the time of this update. This fire is located northeast of Browning Lake.
  • North Bay 9 is being held at 0.1 of a hectare. The fire is located east of Lake Temagami.
  • North Bay 10 is 1hectare and not under control at the time of this update. This fire is located northeast of Wicksteed Lake.
  • Sudbury 46 is 0.5 of a hectare and not under control at the time of this update. The fire is located southeast of Burwash.

Currently, there are seven other active fires in the Northeast region. Of these, one is not under control, three are being held and three are under control.

  • Sudbury 42 is 30.5 hectares and not under control. The fire is located northwest of Wanapitei Provincial Park.

The fire hazard across the Northeast region ranges mostly from high to extreme today.
