ALGOMA HEALTH UNIT NEWS RELEASE

*************************** Boil water advisory

To consumers of the Serpent River Water System

Township of North Shore

The Algoma Health Unit is advising consumers of the Serpent River water system to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes (example drinking, brushing teeth, washing new foods, and making ice.)

The reason for this advisory is that the Algoma Health Unit has been informed of the presence of total coliforms and E.coli in the water system which do not meet the standards set out in the Safe Drinking Water Regulation (Ontario Regulation 170/03.)

This advisory is in place until such time as further bacteriological tests prove the water to be safe for drinking.

Residents will be notified when this advisory is lifted.

For further information, please contact the Environmental Health Department, Algoma Health Unit, at (705) 848-2314, ext. 409.
