Serious crash closes Queen at Shannon (6 photos)

At least one person was taken away by stretcher

11:23 a.m. update:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service says at least three people were taken to hospital. A dog that was in one of the vehicles involved died, police say.

Original story:

Queen Street East was closed at Shannon Road this morning after a serious collision that took place around 9 a.m.

Police at the scene were not immediately able to provide any details about the collision.

A white sedan suffered serious damage to the front end. A black SUV, which ended up in the front yard of a nearby home, also had front-end damage.

At least one man was removed from the white car and taken to ambulance by stretcher.

Firefighters also removed a dog from the car. Police have confirmed the dog died.
