Second annual duathlon closes part of Queen Street East

Motorists are advised that part of Queen Street will be closed Sunday morning to facilitate the second annual DU283 duathlon race in support of the Algoma Family Services Foundation.

Queen Street East will be closed between Brock Street and Andrew Street from 7 to 11:30 a.m.

Full text of a news release issued today by the Algoma Family Services Foundation follows:

The Algoma Family Services Foundation would like to inform the public a portion of Queen Street will be closed to traffic Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 from 7 until 11:30 a.m. Access to the downtown core will be made available at Bruce Street and monitored by Police presence.

Queen Street will be closed from Brock Street to Andrew Street. The closure is part of the 2nd annual DU283 duathlon race. The DU283 event supports the programs and services of Algoma Family Services (AFS). This duathlon promotes awareness and provides much needed funding for early intervention and prevention programs for children and youth struggling with mental health challenges.

This fun filled event will help the AFS Foundation raise funds to support multiple programs for youth and families in the Algoma District. We would greatly appreciate your support in this year’s tournament.
