School boards make their choices (2 photos)

Sarlo and Evans-Price will lead ADSB trustees; Huron-Superior board chooses Caputo, Trembinksi

Two school boards have selected their leaders heading into 2017.

At its inaugural meeting held Tuesday, the Algoma District School Board (ADSB) acclaimed Jennifer Sarlo as board chair, while selecting Sheryl Evans-Price as new vice chair.

Sarlo was first elected as a trustee for the ADSB in 2006.  In 2009, Sarlo became vice-chair and in December 2011, she was elected as chair.

Prior to becoming an elected official with the ADSB, Sarlo was Grand View Public School’s school council chair, an involved and respected member of her community and her church.

Evans-Price was elected to the ADSB in 2014.

She sat on school councils for several years and was the Accommodation Review Committee (ARC) chair for Aweres Public School.

Evans-Price has been working in the health care sector for 15 years and is currently working with a team at Extendicare Vandaele to implement palliative care initiatives.

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (H-SCDSB), at its regular meeting held Wednesday, chose John Caputo as its new chair.

Caputo has served as a trustee with the board for several years, and has served on several committees.

The H-SCDSB chose Gary Trembinski as its new vice-chair.

Elected to the board in 2014, Trembinksi is a former city councillor.

The two will preside over the board of trustees as the H-SCDSB looks for a new director of education to succeed retiring director John Stadnyk in 2017.
