Eco-Challenge NAC – Day 2

It’s over 24 hours into the race and Team Solomon Canada has already taken a three-hour lead. Screaming away from the start, Team Solomon, captained by Sault Ste. Marie local Lawrence Foster, sprinted the 37 kms to CP1 and never looked back.

In hot pursuit of Solomon, Eastern Outdoors reached CP 2 three hours behind, and Algoma’s Water Tower Inn was seven hours behind at CP2. Nonetheless, Algoma had the quickest transition from Bike to Kayak, proving that they are still eager to catch the leader.

Leatherman pulls out

The Eco-Challenge has had the first team pull out of the race. Team Leatherman has experienced an injury. Early Monday morning just after day break in the dense wilderness Jack Crawford ran into a three inch tree branch. He was airlifted to the emergency room to tend to his bruised cornea eye injury. Jack is now resting and his teammates are on their way back to headquarters.
