SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. - As a result of an ongoing joint investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Inspector General and the Michigan State Police, Sault Ste. Marie post, Joshua Sweet of Sault Ste. Marie was arraigned today in the 91st District Court on charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree, Kidnapping and two counts of Felony Firearm.

The charges were authorized by the Chippewa County Prosecutor's Office.

Sweet was arrested without incident on Nov. 9, 2016, following a traffic stop by troopers from the Michigan State Police West Branch Post.

He was transported and lodged at the Chippewa County Jail. Sweet remains lodged at the Chippewa County Jail as he was unable to post the $100,000 cash bond.
