A once-popular Sault, Michigan grocery store will soon close its doors.

The Soo Evening News reports that Dec. 31 will be the last day for Family Fare.

The closure comes due to declining sales and the fact that the store’s Cascade Crossings lease comes up for renewal in the new year, a SpartanNash spokesperson tells the Evening News.

Once known as Glen’s Market, the I-75 Business Spur store was a popular stop for cross-border shoppers from the Canadian Sault.

The planned closure comes as supercentre chain Meijer promises to open a 190,000-square-foot complex nearby on Three Mile Road early in the spring.
