Sault helps with Sudbury water problem

The PUC held a brief, good news board meeting Wednesday.

It was reported by Dominic Parrella, PUC president and CEO, the local utility company answered a call for help from Sudbury’s utility company last week.

The request came after a 24-inch water main, which supplies Sudbury’s water reservoir, broke.

The PUC has provided Sudbury with 3,300 feet of six-inch, lay flat hose and a trailer.

That hose will be used to bypass the break and allow the reservoir to maintain Sudbury’s water levels. 

Here at home, the PUC will be partnering in April with the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library to host a workshop called Understanding Your Bill and What You Can Do About It.

Details of that workshop’s exact time and location will be released on the PUC website.

Jim Boniferro, PUC board chair, also expressed his enthusiasm over the transformation of the former PUC building at 765 Queen Street East into medical offices.

The Superior Family Health Team is consolidating and relocating from its former Queen Street administrative offices and Cambrian Mall clinic to a larger, newly renovated location at the old PUC site, effective Mar. 27, 2017.

“It’s been renovated to serve a purpose, to help and encourage and develop the downtown…they’re spending a lot of money and it looks fantastic,” Boniferro said, adding the building was left in good shape by the PUC.
