Sault driver involved in Blind River fatality

Ontario Provincial Police report that one man is dead after a car-pedestrian accident today near Blind River. The accident occurred this morning on Highway 17 just west of that community.

The accident occurred this morning on Highway 17 just west of that community.

Larry Brien James, age 33 of Muncey, Ontario (near London), was struck by an eastbound car as he crossed from the north side of the highway near Willy's Gas Bar on the Mississauga First Nation Territory.

James was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Blind River where he died of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, Horst Dinter, age 74 of Sault Ste. Marie, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

One lane of Highway 17 was closed for a short time.

The accident occurred about 5:20 a.m.

The Blind River detachment of the O.P.P. is investigating with assistance from technical investigators.
