Students and staff at Sault College were sent home at 10:30 this morning after a brief attempt to re-open after last night's power outage.

The decision to close was made after reviewing the latest information from City Police and other agencies, indicating some uncertainty about the stability of electrical power as the Sault reconnects to the Ontario grid.

College officials were also concerned about the need to conserve electricity under the circumstances.

The college will remain closed Saturday and Sunday, spokesman Rick McGee advises SooToday.com.

It's expected the institution will return to full operations on Monday, McGee says.

The college indicated early this morning that it would be closed, then tried to re-open before reaching the latest decision.
